This image was fairly simple to do in Inkscape. I created a single line, duplicated it, curved the line, and repeated, increasing the curve each time. Once I had the first ‘module’, I duplicated and rotated it until I had a hexagonal shape. I played a bit with palette by making each module a different color, created a vignetted background, and moved the hexagonal shape off-center to add interest.

Inkscape makes it especially easy to manipulate the shape of text to meet the edges of a recognizable silhouette.

I have a good friend with a Hemingway cat who I wanted to surprise with a gift portrait. In this case the cat is a Maine Coon. A Hemingway cat is known as such because of the author’s fondness for and collection of them. Also known as a polydactyl cat, the term polydactyl refers to extra toes on each paw.

So continuing the collaborative disgusting book titles series, Iddrise made me snarf my milk with a book idea that focused on 108 keys to success for the sedentary secretary in all of us. Why 108 keys? The US keyboard standard layout uses 108 keys. The book is rife with silly exercise tips, rather than any ideas for improving nutrition, backwards puns on office life, and ageist, sexist, and other prejudiced thinking, such as Key 86: replenish the water in the cooler while you wait for your copies to finish! and Key 112: bring extra coffee cups to the meeting to work out your biceps! All 108 Keys end in exclamation points. Add your own keys in the comments below, and we’ll get this thing shipped.

On Mac OS X, some applications, like GIMP and Inkscape, use ctrl combinations for other purposes, rendering a ctrl-click (like a right-click, brings up a contextual menu) inoperable. In cases where a touchpad is present, a two finger click works equally well. You might also consider connecting a two-button mouse, though given the touchpad solution, it may be unnecessary.
