I want to take this opportunity to thank my wife Dawn for 11 wonderful years. She has a beautiful smile, a ton of patience, and a calm that is contagious. Love you, sweet one.

I’m about the biggest fanboy that Google has, but I’ll also be the first one to tell you it’s kind of scary how much they know about me. I believe that they totally live up to their idea of “don’t be evil” and I love the things that they are doing to know me better, but it does make me hard to sell their ideas when the things that they do have a high creepy factor. I’m okay with a little creepy if it helps me get to my info quicker. I’m okay with Google knowing who I am.

Here is a Venn diagram that shows what most of us are doing, morally speaking. I believe that we all have all the ability of all the best and all the worst of humanity within us, and that aside from our cumulative experiences and resulting mental health, the only deciding factor in our morality is choosing to follow our self-determined moral compass. Here’s to us choosing to do the right thing.

I don’t think I’ll be traveling overseas anytime soon. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I think it is ludicrous to have to choose between being visually strip-searched and being groped. When the first post-scanner bomber successfully emerges, I wonder what dignities we’ll lose next? Also, how long until we start seeing the supposedly unkept images presented as “The top 10 hottest scanned babes ever!”? Some parts of the time we live in are amazingly wonderful, and others are just… amazing.

The other day, my friend Tim McGee was asking about using tools like Inkscape and the GIMP to switch out faces on famous paintings, such as American Gothic, with those of his friends. I gave him a short demo with two anonymous faces I found on the web, but I decided to use the very same technique to simply switch the faces of the father and daughter in the painting.

A few things about me are consistently true. One is that I’m often late. The fact that this sketch is going out at 1 a.m. the day after its post date should give you some sign of this.
