I’m about the biggest fanboy that Google has, but I’ll also be the first one to tell you it’s kind of scary how much they know about me. I believe that they totally live up to their idea of “don’t be evil” and I love the things that they are doing to know me better, but it does make me hard to sell their ideas when the things that they do have a high creepy factor. I’m okay with a little creepy if it helps me get to my info quicker. I’m okay with Google knowing who I am.

333 of 365 is a portrait of Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney

I started with a famous album cover, brought it into Inkscape, converted to a vector using bitmap trace, removed everything but Paul’s face, then used it as a mask on a grunge texture. Simple technique, but I really like the result.

We buried mom today. If there’s one thing that stands out about my common experience with her, it is a mutual appreciation of great food. She was a wonderful and deeply resourceful chef, but she also loved to go out to have a great meal. As time went on and especially after Dad died, we spent most of our time together going out to eat. She would always enjoy comfort foods, and the easier to chew the better. She noted the success of a place by how well they cooked chopped sirloin with gravy and onions with a side of mashed potatoes. I plan to celebrate her memory with that meal often in the future.

Bovine made out of text

Divine Bovine made out of text by John LeMasney via lemasney.com
Bovine made out of text

Here is the latest in my text based animals series. Cow-Schmow, she’s a bovine.

‘Bovine comes from the Latin word for “cow”, though the biological family called the Bovidae actually includes not only cows and oxen but also goats, sheep, bison, and buffalo. So bovine is often used technically, when discussing “bovine diseases”, “bovine anatomy”, and so on. It can also describe a human personality, though it can be a rather unkind way to describe someone. When Hera, the wife of Zeus, is called “cow-eyed”, though, it’s definitely a compliment, and Zeus fairly melts when she turns those big bovine eyes on him.’

281 of 365 is Shaun’s hopped up Toyota Scion

Shaun's Scion
Shaun’s Scion

My friend Shaun has a uniquely shaped car. He’s recently come under fire in a certain Facebook thread in which people are trying to determine whether it looks more like a lunchbox or a breadbox, but regardless the way it ended up was that if it belonged to Sarah, it would have special effects that would make it jump and vibrate like her phone when she gets a text. So here you have Shaun’s car if Sarah owned it.
