History and origins

Inspired by http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/12/22/design-something-every-day I decided to make a small sketch using Inkscape every day. After completing the first year in 2010, in 2011, I decided to refocus the effort using the GNU Image manipulation program. As a result of this project, I’ve led workshops on the applications, given overviews of the project to groups, made strong connections with a dedicated and loyal community, had a few exhibitions, and learned more than I knew was possible about these applications and my design sensibility.

After a personal crisis in November of 2011, I took a year off from this project to refocus and regain my health. In November 2012, I restarted the blog, and intend to finish the second set of 365 sketches on January 1st, 2013.

Moving forward, it will likely be a weekly or occasional sketch, as the daily post was incredibly beneficial, but also daunting for a free project.
