These are two takes on the same quote, J.M. Barrie’s All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust. This is very much a shared philosophy of mine. I feel that as I remove and reduce the things around me, removing the noise, that other truths become especially clear: What life is. What our intent should be. How things work in a holistic system. And after seeing those truths (at least truth as far as I am concerned in this moment), it’s difficult to look again at unnatural systems, ones that focus on money, or manufactured beauty, or false foods. I try to work to help people, live a balanced and examined life, and to enjoy what is here while I’m here. The rest is pixie dust.
In Inkscape, I decided to do two takes on the quote, one that was sort of overtly solemn and bombastic in its movement, and the other which relied on the simplest, most straightforward presentation, one that still uses balance, space, kerning, and linear alignment to express the idea emotionally, but not relying on color, bend, shadow or other effects. I don;t know that I like one over the other, but I think the minimalist one says the message in the truer light.
My workspace for this piece has my font study on the left, my palette source on the right, and guidelines established for vertical alignments. If you’d like me to do an illustration of a quote, lyric or phrase, please contact me at john@lemasney.com I’d really love the opportunity to help you to transform your thought into an image.
