The other day I was in Princeton, NJ sitting on Witherspoon and saw someone walk by with a stylized Jolly Roger but instead of a skull, it had a cupcake in its place. I was struck by its quirky sensibility, though i must say I still am not sure what it means. Death to cupcakes? Death by cupcakes? Down with sugar? I’m so sweet it’s poisonous? I’ll never know, but I loved it, and decided to make my own with a hamburger. Mine might be a warning to those with an unwatched hamburger that they should keep one hand on the bun and one hand on their sidearm when I’m around. I might just be a burger pirate.

It would be wrong to say Arrrrrrrby’s, right?
HA! If that’s wrong, I don’t want to be right. 🙂
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of Ketchup! Love it!
Good one, David!
A few years back (2006), the skull and cross bone symbol came into fashion. It also coincided with the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. Some fashionable prints replaced the skull with other items or made the skull look cute (pink color, heart shaped eyes, cartoon like, cupcakes etc.). So the passerby’s shirt is probably just left over from that fashion fad, or they went to Johnny Cupcakes:
oic.
