I love quiet, except when I am listening to music. When I listen to music, I really love when artists play with noise. I love being surprised by tweaked, altered sounds and rhythms that come from everyday noise. Trent Reznor has done this for a very long time, and does it well. It’s cold in here now. I miss summer, and its intense heat. Strangely, I miss the honeybees. They represent summer to me. When I was younger, I was terribly scared of bees, but I’ve gotten a lot of experiences with them that endear me to them now. I have a lot of good associations with them, and I respect what they do. I’m worried about the effects of the dead hives phenomenon, and I hope that we find out what’s going on there. There’s another special reason that I’m posting this that I’ll keep to myself, but I bet that some of you might figure it out.

So I just got some new furniture at Ikea. I really love the simple lines, elegant shape, and low price of the Ikea LACK pieces, especially the end table, of which I have owned many. I got four for my current setup, because even in my very small studio apartment, they allow for flexibility. For instance, you can put them on top of one another to create more space,   line them up to make an impromptu coffee table, put them into a square to create a casual dining or project space, or wrap them around a chair or table. Given their flexibility, something in my mind clicked to animate the table in a fun way. I hope, as always, that you enjoy and share it.

I have come to the conclusion that I have a strong faith in nature. I think that life’s greatest questions can be answered in the natural processes, and that by observing, following, and encouraging those laws to persist, we come by the best path.

I have found in the last year or two that there are very few events that have no impact, that have no impression, that do not alter things as they are, or were. I find instead that even the most subtle acts, the most seemingly insignificant happenings, make for a moment that affects every one after.

So I’m at a Bed and Breakfast in Ocean City, NJ (Ocean City Mansion, 4th and Central, nice place) and for the choice of coffee mug at breakfast, there was an eclectic set to choose from. I proudly chose a mug with the word Princess on it, because, well, I did. I decided to make today’s sketch as a remembrance.
