201 of 365 urges you to keep trying [image] #Inkscape

Keep trying
Keep trying

So this is a little note to myself, and to a lot of my friends right now, to keep it up. Keep going. Keep trying to do what you’re doing. I hear you. I know it’s been hard. There’s a lot against you in your effort, but you can do it. Things will be different in the future, if you keep going. Please do.

198 of 365 is an overstayed welcome in #Inkscape

Overstayed welcome
Overstayed welcome

The saddest part about this, really, is that I have more than one friend/liker/pal who wants this sketch done. I’m not mentioning any names, but I’ll just say that if you are a renter making your landlord miserable, a relative who is taking advantage of an open door, or someone staying past the third cup of tea, you’re not vain — this sketch is about you.

197 of 365 is a call to action in #Inkscape #type #typography

A call to action
A call to action

This is a great and inspirational quote in my opinion, from a great master of action. I love the puzzle-like way that these letterforms fit together, and the way that emphasis happens with color and focus. More than anything, I love the message that knowledge and willingness alone are not enough, however important. Action is key.

Some great hair
Some great hair

This is a fairly simple image that is all about Inkscape’s ability to divide and conquer, visually speaking — making an easy task of taking a photographic image and separating it into distinct graphic components, then emphasizing those components. In this case, I made a video about it to share how I did it. Hope you enjoy it!

195 of 365 is a kind of freedom in #Inkscape #independence

Freedom
Freedom

There are lots of ways to interpret freedom. Many of us in the US see freedom as a given, a birthright. In other parts of the world, it’s something far away, only wished for, or in some cases, openly rejected or feared because of the relative chaos it might bring in some minds or situations. However, in my mind, given my societal and experiential biases, freedom means riding at a high rate of speed in an open topped car, close to or after midnight. Happy independence day, Americans.

194 of 365 is a box of stuff in #Inkscape #consumerism

Box of stuff
Box of stuff

So this is a layout for a box of stuff, made easily in Inkscape due to an extension called extensions/render/foldable box, with which you can make  simple folding box of any dimensions you wish. i decided to use it to bring light to the fact that I myself have way too much stuff. I’ve never been happy about it, but I think I’d really like to do something drastic about it now. The voice in the block there on the right is the disgusting guilt-driven voice that we all often hear from advertisers and marketers when they rely on the simplest forms of pursuasion: fear uncertainty, and doubt in one’s self. Marketing and advertising are out of control in this country, and require more responsibility than is often mandated in the work.
