83 of 365 is a study for a heart <3 #typography #Inkscape

Heart study
Heart study

I had a very close friend ask me to do a typography study of the text-based heart that we use in chats, in the form of less than 3 (<3). Not surprisingly some fonts work far better than others for conveying a heart.

A friend of mine is planning her wedding, and asked me if I might consider some monograms for the event. I said that I thought it was a great idea. The screencast gives a very good idea of how I typically make graphic identity work.

So I’m in Baltimore, and I’m not a big fan of seafood. In fact, I had never had an oyster of any kind until last night when the opportunity arose. and I don’t know if I’ll be having them again soon, but it was not bad at all. Thanks to friends for sharing!

77 of 365 is a shared song lyric #Inkscape

So I realized a long time ago that Radiohead’s song “Creep” and Queens of the Stone Age’s  song “How to handle a rope” (I think; I’ll check)You can’t quit me baby” both use the beautiful lyric I illustrated here. Yeah it’s a little sad, but who doesn’t want someone to miss them? Anyway this is just a series of fonts overlapped on a gradient background in Inkscape.

Take a look at the screencast to hear the story of how this happened, and how to clean a wound using the GIMP.

Paula loves CPanel
Paula loves CPanel

So my new buddy at work, Paula, was talking with me today about a cool system called CPanel that allows users to create a Drupal, WordPress, and other services easily through  a single interface, They’re moving away from manual LAMP stacks, and moving towards a more straightforward way of creating these services for users, which I think is a great move. I’m waiting on my account, and am desperate to get into it to start playing. She was telling me how she was experimenting and had a recoverable, but frustrating, issue with the system. 🙂 I think she secretly loves it like me, but she would might tell you otherwise right now.
