It is Christmas today in America. A good friend once asked me if I could do one thing to improve the world, what would it be? I thought on it, and after a while, I answered that I would give all humans the ability to feel the history, pain, and challenges of others. To have mandated omnipresent mediation. If you can feel, empathize, and understand the life of another, it might explain the choices that they make, the prejudices that they hold, and the pain that keeps them from treating one another and themselves with kindness. If I was to have one wish granted, this would be the one. To those of you who are celebrating today, I wish this for you. For those of you who celebrate other holidays in other ways, the very best of those seasons to you.

Designers as defined by Buckminster Fuller

I really loved this particular definition of designers:

“A designer is an emerging synthesis of artist, inventor, mechanic, objective economist, and evolutionary strategist.”  – R. Buckminster Fuller.

This is the result of overlapping three primary colored circles in Inkscape, then reducing opacity in varying degrees, then adding other overlapping circles with the resulting color of the overlaps. The play resulted in a fun image that shows something interesting about color, transparency, and color relationship. If you like it, please share it. If you use it, please attribute me, and thanks! I was passing someone who was in the middle of saying this, and thought about what a strange phrase it was. I decided to illustrate it, to try to give it some visual gravity.

I love quiet, except when I am listening to music. When I listen to music, I really love when artists play with noise. I love being surprised by tweaked, altered sounds and rhythms that come from everyday noise. Trent Reznor has done this for a very long time, and does it well. It’s cold in here now. I miss summer, and its intense heat. Strangely, I miss the honeybees. They represent summer to me. When I was younger, I was terribly scared of bees, but I’ve gotten a lot of experiences with them that endear me to them now. I have a lot of good associations with them, and I respect what they do. I’m worried about the effects of the dead hives phenomenon, and I hope that we find out what’s going on there. There’s another special reason that I’m posting this that I’ll keep to myself, but I bet that some of you might figure it out.
