This is a redo of an earlier sketch that just focused on the silhouette of a whale, and this time I used the word whale as a basis for the image.

Bovine made out of text

Divine Bovine made out of text by John LeMasney via lemasney.com
Bovine made out of text

Here is the latest in my text based animals series. Cow-Schmow, she’s a bovine.

‘Bovine comes from the Latin word for “cow”, though the biological family called the Bovidae actually includes not only cows and oxen but also goats, sheep, bison, and buffalo. So bovine is often used technically, when discussing “bovine diseases”, “bovine anatomy”, and so on. It can also describe a human personality, though it can be a rather unkind way to describe someone. When Hera, the wife of Zeus, is called “cow-eyed”, though, it’s definitely a compliment, and Zeus fairly melts when she turns those big bovine eyes on him.’

from “Bovine | Definition of Bovine by Merriam-Webster” at https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bovine curated by lemasney creative. Feel free to share.

304 of 365 is a rusty VW Beetle #Inkscape #design

Rusty Beetle
Rusty Beetle

I have often wondered what kind of car suits me best. I think that over the years I’ve chosen cars based on availability, price, serendipity, and certainly utility. I’ve owned several station wagons, a couple of sedans and one mini van. I’ve never really chosen a car based on its persona alignment with my persona, as far as I know. I think if I did, I might have chosen a Beetle from Volkswagen, or perhaps a Jetta, though I’ve heard the most recent low cost Jetta isn;t worth the $15,000. So, I thought today, I’d celebrate my theoretical choice, even if I might never actually own one.

About us
About us

This was a simple exercise where I thought about the design concept of intertwined text, and thought about how that reflected my relationship with my immediate family. We’re intertwined like this. By taking the text, converting to path, ungrouping, and kerning individual letters, you can do a lot with letterforms.
