I don’t have anything to add to this. It’s so very true.

52 of 365 is a farewell note #GIMP

Farewell note
Farewell note

In case anyone still doesn’t know, I’m leaving my long-term position at Rider at the end of this week to begin work at Princeton University. So I was talking on the phone, and my friend Marianne stopped by, and in her typical polite fashion, to keep from interrupting me, she made me a note and showed me through the window. It said simply, on an 8.5×11 sheet, in Sharpie “Good Luck (smiley) Have fun! i will miss you (frownie).” It was a beautiful, simple sentiment, and was more than the object, but the act itself.  I wanted to capture the beautiful simple sentiment in the note and share it with you. Thank you, Marianne. I’ll miss you, and Rider, dearly.

Emotional Walls

If you’ve ever truly loved, you’ve likely added bricks to your wall. It’s nice to peek over it most of the time, but from time to time, it’s a relief to have a shield from the pain and despair of disappointment.

If you like this image, please share it. If you use it, please attribute me, and thanks! (cc-by lemasney)

“One reason people put up emotional walls is to manage what happens next. But this sense of control is a myth. Because in reality, things play out like they’re going to and you have far less power over other people than you imagine (or you’d like). There’s a sense of If I, then she will that’s also a myth. You just can’t predict or control other people’s behavior.” – 4 Truths About People Who Put Up (Emotional) Walls | These Little Waves,

48 of 365 is a pair of squirrels #GIMP

Philosophy squirrels
Philosophy squirrels

So, this is essentially an inside joke between some old friends. However, I think you can appreciate it from a general point of view too. I hereby name this meme ‘philosophy squirrels’.

In the GIMP, I took a single image that I found in MorgueFile of a squirrel, and mirrored it, then duplicated the pair into a new layer, and moved it down. After I had them where I wanted them, I added the text and paths to have them chat. I thought about adding a coolfaced troll to nod to Shaun Holland, but maybe next time.
