Perhaps not the best application of this tool, but it was a lot of fun to play with. I just started reading about Inkscape‘s Stitch Sub Paths Live Path Effect in Kirsanov’s The Book of Inkscape and found that it was great for lining long planes with manipulable parallel paths.

In my painting classes, I learned that it’s important to sculpt your subject with your brush to help your viewer see the way that a plane is going through space. This is a simplified way of doing just that. Very fun too.

I hope you can excuse the primitivism of this experiment, but I plan to develop my skills with it in the new year. Speaking of which, I hope you all have a great 2010.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1128,4110,3654
335,365,411,3870,599,717,865,866,923
0":"post-51","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-illustration","8":"category-inkscape-portfolio","9":"category-portfolio","10":"tag-gimp","11":"tag-graphics","12":"tag-inkscape","13":"tag-john-lemasney","14":"tag-open-source","15":"tag-scalable-vector-graphics","16":"tag-vector-based","17":"tag-vector-graphics","18":"tag-wordpress","19":"czr-hentry

https://i0.wp.com/lemasney.com/consulting/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/20091231.png?fit=549%2C568&ssl=1
I used path as pattern path effect tool to make a stenciled face.
