Ewing<\/b>,\u00a0NJ<\/b>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWhy would I want a laptop that only runs a browser?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0This is the critical question\u00a0New Jersey\u00a0technology consultant and graphic designer John LeMasney<\/a> will explore when he presents The Computer Learning Center\u2019s newest, free Computer Tips and Tricks program on\u00a0Tuesday, September 3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cMaking Sense of the Google Chromebook\u201d will begin at\u00a02 p.m.\u00a0in the Ewing Senior and Community Center at\u00a0<\/span>999 Lower Ferry Road.\u00a0It will be preceded at\u00a01:30 p.m.\u00a0by a question and answer session during which the audience can direct computer questions to the CLC\u2019s all-volunteer faculty.\u00a0\u00a0Both programs are free and no prior registration is required.<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cCome learn why I stopped carrying around my MacBook Pro and exchanged it for a Chromebook, Google\u2019s low-cost laptop that runs just one application,\u201d says LeMasney. \u201cChrome begins to make a lot of sense when you look at several converging factors, namely, the increasing availability of high-speed connectivity, the emergence of applications and cloud-based services for real-world functionality, and the ability to stay connected in rather light ways.\u00a0\u00a0I plan to look at both why the Chromebook works for me and the incredible power of this platform, but also why keeping a MacBook around still makes sense for some things.\u201d
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 John LeMasney describes himself as an artist, designer, technologist, and consultant whose passion is to help people use technology in sensible ways to enhance their work and life.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0His career most recently included work as Manager of Technology Training at\u00a0Rider\u00a0University\u00a0where he assisted faculty, staff and students in integrating technology into their work, classroom, and extracurricular activities.\u00a0\u00a0A Fine Arts graduate of the University\u00a0of the Arts\u00a0in\u00a0Philadelphia, he holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership with distinction from\u00a0Rider\u00a0University, as well as LPI Level One Certification in Linux Administration.
