So I had a snapshot that I thought captured my smile nicely, but had some other issues worth fixing. I opened the original in the GIMP, Removed some wayward beard with the smudge tool, tightened focus with the sharpen tool in a few places, removed background noise with the blur tool, brightened and added depth to the photo using the brightness/contrast feature, made the image grayscale using desaturate, and added a color overtone with the colorize feature. I think more than anything, I just wanted to make up for yesterday’s monster.
