“For you.”

Who is that, the ‘you’ in this Pisarek piece? I can only imagine it is his dear wife Christine, who is very seemingly represented in the straightforward, steady nature of the piece. In this piece, we have Roch’s typical linear element, almost a metaphor in itself for life. The many turns of a life, Roch captures in these undulations. This is an atypically coherent and contrived palette for Pisarek who is more apt to choose colors for their media and sculptural elements than for their hue. There is a raw human innards element to this piece, and I am reminded of tripe in some pieces. His photographic work in regards to roadkill is reflected in a piece like this. This is almost a rendering of the many shapes that he finds, quiet old graffiti or stains, in photographic work. The dull palette of the interior of the piece is in subtle but clear contrast to the bright outer shape. This work is certainly a part of the pisarek style, but departs nicely in palette and focus. The finish of the piece is tidy and clean, and the message quite clear. He loves her. (John LeMasney, 2014)
